    sponge filter help
OK I just got my sponge filter in to day and I was wondering how do you make it stop floating, I got a oxygen plus bio-filter from Dr. Frost and smith.

The only part of this product I dislike is the direction, or I should say lack of Directions.

    please help.

Squeeze the air out while it's in the tank.

thanks, now I'm wondering, should I put it in to my 20 gallon for a day or two, or will it be OK going right in to the fry tank and run for about a week before add any carrying females.

I'd add it into a healthy established tank for a week to get a bit of good bacteria in it.

so add it to my 20 gallon for close to a week, great I want it to float now, because I don't have that much room on the gravel.

    Re: sponge filter help

It will have to "work" in the 20 gallon. Allowing it to float won't really get bacteria to grow in the filter itself. Water will need to be passing through the sponge.

    Re: sponge filter help

as long as it can float about 3-6 inches off the gravel it should work still right?

Yeah, as long as the tube is below the water line.

I just add it to my 20 gallon and my guppies are picking at, that funny. Guppies shouldn't be able to eat the filter should they???

No, they won't be able to actually eat the sponge.

OK I thought that but I just want to make sure that they couldn't, just out of curiosity can or will any fish eat the sponge?
