    LoL.

Are there any additives I need to have on hand in the very beginning, other than normal stuff like Prime ? I'm not adding corals or anything for a few months.

just the salt and conditioner....give it a month then you can throw in a damsel to start the process or get a used filter pad from a fellow hobbiest....

I'm going to throw some Bio Spira in there after I get it set up so I don't have to wait forever to add fish.

Can you get buckets of water from someone to help speed the process along?

I've used Bio Spira before. You add it the same time you do fish and it keeps your tank from cycling. It's the only product that really contains live bacteria.

Okay. Maybe I'll skip that then. I'm really good about testing the water and keeping the cycle process under control so it doesn't get deadly for the fish. I've never had any problems before with freshwater fish.

I've done the saltwater setup, wait weeks and weeks and weeks before adding anything and I really don't want to do that again.

I really want to get one or two Ocellaris Clownfish.

I was just reading reviews on them and that's what most of them said as well.

    Okay... Another question.

Do you think I could hold off on the skimmer until I'm ready to put corals in it or should I use it from the very beginning ?

I'm actually going to try out that Rena SmartFilter to begin with. I noticed they have Rena SmartHeaters that fit this filter which I thought was pretty cool. It'll be one less thing I have to have in the tank. If I have any problems with it I'll just return it but the reviews I read were pretty good.

I have a rena and love it. The adjustable flow is tight, the thing is really easy to setup, quiet as hell, and the intake tube is actually long enough. I definetly reccomend it!

You have an XP3 though, right ? Their new SmartFilters are HOB filters.

The heater replaced the intake tube on the filter and heats the water as it's pulled into the filter.

the skimmer should go on when you add your first fish.....the sand and rock would not need a skimmer.
