Along with that the filters are easy in and easy out and lock into place. Theres a liquid additive dispenser, like you wanna add your prime or flourish and you just dose it right into the filter exhaust so it disperses it better.

I just went and got the largest one from Petsmart. I talked to the fish dude there and he was very nice and knowledgeable. He said someone came in the other day and said how great the filter was. The manager there was very nice too. He price matched it with their online price and said any time I need a price match just to let him know and he'll authorize it. I'm glad the people there are nice in case I need some supplies on short notice.

Well, I found a new pet store today. They have the 30L tank with a REAL wood stand, not a crappy iron one like I saw at the other place. The tank itself is 55.00 and the girl said she thought the stand was only 100.00. I will definitely be buying that on Friday.

Yeah. I've never purchased a used tank before. I'd rather buy a new one and not have to worry.

Ive only bought 1 new tank, waste of money. You could prolly get a 30 gallon tank and stand off craigslist for 40 bucks or so in due time, but hey its your money and you get to decide when you wanna buy it this way.

Well, after inspecting the SmartFilter 55 I came to the conclusion that the internal build wasn't too "smart". The center filter didn't have the same round tube that fit into the cartridge to make it "pressurized", allowing water to bypass the filter all together. I exchanged it for the 30 gallon model with 2 filters which both have the tube thing inside. I figured with that and the protein skimmer being rated as high as it is I shouldn't have any problems. I can always buy another 30 gallon SmateFilter if I need more filtration.

I've got a substrate question for ya...

Should I do 100% sand or do you think it would be a good idea to do about 90% sand with some crushed coral substrate ?
