    SCATS

    General:
The few species of this perchlike family inhabit brackish waters in tropical parts of the ocean.

    Biology:
The sociable scats release buoyant eggs into the water and provide no parental care.
    They live in groups.

    "Feces Eaters"

The scientific name of the scats, Scatophagus, means "feces eater" and refers to the occurence of these fish in heavily polluted waters.
Nevertheless, in aquariums scats are not as insensitive as their name would suggest.
Their needs (brackish water!) must be carefully taken into account, as with all other fish species.
