I've only seen the dyed ones at my local lfs's
I had one before...before I was aware of what they went through. I believe it was called a jellybean parrot and they were vivid red/orange.

i would rather get some dither fish instead of more cichlids.
lots of recommendations for rainbow fish and giant danios.

I had the giant danios in the 90g (they give you the silver). I did 3 in there...they mainly stuck towards the top and my water was/is soft and acidic.

Rainbowfish are always pretty! I have a yellow signif which has nice coloration.

    >Silver Dollars--as you suggested would be quite a display!
    >Leporinus or Striped Anostomus would def. stand out.
    >Pimelodus pictus would be an interesting one (had these before and were always swimming about)
    >Farlowella Catfish (No experience with these), Doradids -Raphael (had one of these in the past...excellent hider)

i think i will stick with the rokteil and a schoal of turquise rainbowfish.
the rainbowfish should grow fast and big enough to not be eaten.

Yes, a pair should work in a 75.

If you're getting them at 2" I would suggest about 7 to be sure you get a male and female.

I wouldn't put any dithers in there because when breeding time comes they will kill everything they can catch.

hmm, bredding pair or other fish.

i think i would rather have diferent fish, than breeders.

how about 1 sev, schoal of rainbowfish, and maybe another cichild like a firemouth or green terror?

ok did ALOT of reading.........seems severum would be ok with
    firemouth
    rainbow cichlid
    blue acara
    keyhole

so i was thinking of maybe 1 each of any 3. with this many cichlids i dont think i would need dither fish.
    suggestions?

This is what I would do even though they will be aggressive when spawning.

    A pair of severums
    1 Blue Acara
    5-7 Banded Rainbows
    5-7 Boeseman's Rainbows

i dont want aggresive spawning. and i want to limit territorial behavior. thats why i just want 1 fish a piece.

    1 severum
    1 blue acara
    1 firemouth
    8 rainbow fish
    10 cories.
    comments?

With cichlids you're almost always going to run into aggression, spawning or not. That's just the nature of these types of fish.

If you want to do what you've listed above you're going to have to put A TON of rocks in that tank so the less aggressive fish can hide.

A pair will be fine as well as a single specimen with several other smaller fish.

Do you know what the tank dimensions are ?

75 US Gallons would be 62.45 Imperial Gallons.
