I'd only worry about trying to remove the eggs if the fish in the tank egg them.

I would let nature take its course. Snails multiply rapidly and before long you will have more then you know what to do with. If you let nature take its course and only the strong will survive (or more appropriately the lucky).

Just me though as I dont particularly like snails. I do have them in my planted tank and well, I really dont want them (I have seen about a dozen) and I dont know how they got in as I rinse all of my plants... but oh well, they do help control my algae so I am not overly concerned at this time.

I am pretty sure you are talking about P. Bridgesii or "Mystery Snails" Do they look like the ones in the pic (I hope this works) Are the eggs above or below the water line?

Thats a Cana they will get to be the size of baseballs and are notorious for eating plants. Do you have any vegetation in the tank? What are you feeding them?

In order to maintain proper growth of the shells they should be fed a variety of calcium rich foods, leafy greens-they are very voraciouos plant eaters- you can also supplement their diet with calcium DIY style:
I got this from someone on another board
Heat a small jar of baby food in the micro for 1 minute-green beans or carrots just look for the one with the highest amount of calcium. Add a teaspoon of JurassiCal or any other calcium usually found in the reptile section. Crush up some flake food and throw it in. Add 1 pack of Unflavored gelatin. Stir it all up and put it in a bowl in the fridge until it hardens. Cut into cubes and just drop it in the tank. Actual vegetation in their diet is STRONGLY recommended please keep that in mind:)

    Re: snails

Many snails graze on algae but aren't really that effective at keeping it under control. If you are wanting snails to keep algae at bay nerites are the super algae eaters of the invert world:)

birdhuff Posted: Tue Dec 30, 2008 12:50 pm Sorry did not see what fish you were keeping but if it is cichlids some of those guys love small snails. You may want to set them up in a small tank to they get some size on them if your keeping cichlids if not I would not worry except for filtration sucking really small ones in. B

I have 6, these little guys are great although not that great for snail control but still an interesting addition. After the holidays I plan to get into the Sulawesi snail. I love the C. Coronas.

Oh yes they sorta liquify them inside their own shell and then suck them out. The tube all this is done through looks similar to a P. Bridgesii breathing siphon.
