They are not really readily available in the US. I got mine from someone who has them shipped in from malaysia I think:)

Honestly when I think of inverts I think of saltwater more than freshwater.

petluvr Posted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 11:38 pm It happens:)

stevenrox Posted: Thu Dec 18, 2008 3:23 pm lol i cant identify them they are really small with a cone like spoted smooth shell

petluvr Posted: Thu Dec 18, 2008 3:32 pm does it look sorta like this @ or more like > Basically round or kinda like an ice cream cone shaped?

stevenrox Posted: Thu Dec 18, 2008 4:40 pm i think ice cram cone

petluvr Posted: Fri Dec 19, 2008 12:54 am Malaysian Trumpet Snail-MTS. They are very good at sifiting through the substrate and prefer to come out at night. They are live bearers and will overpopulate if a food source is readily available:)

If they are laying eggs more than likely you will see a few more:)

    Re: ranshorn

Circular patches where ? To my knowledge and from experience snails don't lay eggs in "circles".

What are your current water parameters ?

    Re: ranshorn

As long as your pH doesn't go below 7.0 it will be fine. If it drops below that their shells will begin to fall apart. You can use baking soda to increase your pH, which will also increase hardness. I forget the dosing for it. I think it's about 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons to raise it 1 number but I could be wrong. That I did in the past was just mix a strong solution in a cup with hot water. After it dissolves I would slowly add a little of it to the tank, wait about 10 minutes then test the water to see where things are. You don't want to add too much too fast because they will have a hard time adjusting to the pH.

    Re: ranshorn

they are ramshorn eggs and if you are seeing many of them decrease feeding and increase vacs. PH is fine if you want to slowly increase ph to a higher level add a filter media bag with some crushed coral, works better than the baking soda and the increases TDS so it is potentially hazardous.

    Re: ranshorn

Possible but more likely they are hatching. How long have you been seeing them?

    Re: ranshorn

The eggs won't grow any larger once they're laid.
