What about the Rainbows? Don't they need aquarium salt?

    Re: Striped Rapheal

    Most likely not.

What are your water parameters out of your tap after it sits for 24 hours ? Aquarium salt is something most people do not need.

    Re: Striped Rapheal

Okay. Stop using the aquarium salt, you don't need it at all. Since there's ammonia in your tap water I'd suggest treating your tap water BEFORE putting it in your tank. NEVER add tap water into your tanks untreated since it contains ammonia.

And in case it has not been mentioned, treat the water with "Prime" as this will also detoxify the ammonia along with any chlorine.

    Re: Striped Rapheal

Prime removes Chlorine, Chloramines, and Ammonia.... Stress coat is not really need (sometimes it is) and does not remove ammonia (not that I remember) and ammonia chips do not remove chlorine.

Just to clarify, it converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form.

    From the Seachem website...
"Prime™ is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime™ removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime™ converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime™ may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime™ detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Prime™ also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime™ is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime™ will not overactivate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water."

    Here's the Prime review thread on here: <a class="postlink-local" href="http://www.theexoticfish.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=953" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">viewtopic.php?f=8&t=953</a>

Thanks! Guess when I use up the Ammonia remover and tap water conditioner I will be making another trip to my LFS. Sounds like a great product.

fish passed on to bluer waters. Issues were believed to be Ammonia, the addition of salt, and possibly inaccurate test strips.
