How do you feel about mixing Peacocks? If one was to keep them to themselves and make sure they did not show up in the pet stores? Just thought I would ask.

I understand the ACA desire to keep the different specie and sports pure but as long as you don't try to pass a "X" as a new sport or dilute the gene pool in some way the I see no problem with keeping "X" for your pleasure

Re: How do you feel about..

I thought I would ask about mixing just for the fact that is a lot PUrist in the world of cichlids, which I can be from time to time. I would never mix certain species togather (nothing should ever be mixed with Demasoni,my favorite fish) but I think if you want to make your tank awsome looking sometimes you need to mix Peacocks. As long as you keep them to yourself. My thoughts only. [bfish]
P.S That is how we got ALL the O.B Peacocks in the world!

i agree with cool...if you're keeping the offsring for yourself then imo there's nothing wrong in doing it. i thought my african tank was a mixed male community tank until we found fry one day. we've got 2 fry in a 5g now and a female holding in a 10g. we plan on keeping the fry.

There are a lot of unscrupulous breeder and dealer out there to. Just check E-Bay from time to time and you'll find some guy looking to sell some "X" Africans Cichlid for big bucks claiming it a F-1 of the newest find.
