Seeing if the bleached driftwood is safe for fish, probably returning a light fixture, soaking more driftwood.

You can straight clorox bleach it, I've done it with mine numerous times without any negative effects.
You just have to make sure it's plain clorox & not the scented kind, that you soak it extremely well in a good dechlorinator (I use Seachem Prime)...and just to be on the extra safe side I always allow it to air dry and do the "sniff" test.

The straight clorox is what I did (accidentally). I was really nervous about putting it in the tank despite adding dechlorinator and soaking it for a long time. Still haven't done it, I may put it in tomorrow.

Added the driftwood I got online to the 46. The tank looks much better. Water change on the 20. The guy at the new store in town said he was getting in a bunch of new driftwood AND a lot of new fish later this week. He's already got a really good selection of fish, so I'm excited.

should be fine as long as there's no bleach smell to it (Sniff test).

    ~Yesterday
{*}did a major partial on the 90g, switched the prefilter sponges on the end of the xp4's for standard Rena "strainers", moved plants around a bit, and took a few out for the kiddos 20gL in addition to the tiki looking guy.

{*}did a regular partial on the 20gL, planted the plants I swiped from the 90g, added the tiki dude that was also swiped from the 90g & rinsed the prefilter off a bit.

{*}ordered Phos-X at the recommendation of Raymond in hopes that this blasted brush algae will go away. (figure depending on how big the bag is that I'll pull a basket or two if necessary and toss it in one of the xp4's...or maybe in the back of the emperor 400?)

Doing a huge water change today while doing a good cleaning of the substrate. Hadn't done a water change in a couple weeks because of my work schedule. Angels have already about doubled in size since I got them !

    JUST FINISHED:
[*]pulling all the pool filter sand out of the 90g
[*]salvaging what I could on plants and tossing them in the 10g
[*]placing the rest of the plants (brush algae ridden) into a bucket with hydrogen peroxide figuring I don't have much to lose
[*]placing the loaches in the 10g due to their being stressed (their home is now void of hiding places- changing some things).
[*]filling two party tubs with water, dosing them with seachem prime, and adding airstones to them for holding the remaining tank inhabitants

-->now I'm just waiting for the water temperature to reach the 82F in both the buckets so I can net the fish out and place them in there.

partial on the 20gL, had to pull the filter off and rinse the tubing out really well in addition to the filter itself- Darn snails!

Thinking of getting a few assassin snails to erradicate them, but want to look into whether or not they'll harm the shrimp as I think I vaguely recall something about them and the smaller shrimp.

Also replaced the power strip under the 90g...the plug was getting hot so I replaced it with a heavy duty computer grade one just to be on the safe side. Mounted the Lunars too (on top in the back corners like I wanted) & the plugs just made it to the outlet!

I have assassins with a breeding colony of RCS and have never had a bad experience. Keep them well fed and they will be fine.

waterchanges and filter maintenance. checked water parameters in the 55g (0,0,15), my jewel cichlid isn't looking very well, he's very pale and not moving much at all. i moved him to a quarantine tank. all the others are looking good and ate when feed early this morning. i think age has caught up with him, he was allready an adult when i got him about 5yrs ago.
