    algae based food? (ie. algae wafers, or flakes with spirulina) mixed with water that isn't siphoned from the bottom maybe?

    waterchanges and filter maintenance. tore down the magnum 250 and did a complete cleaning, the impeller housing had alot of "muck" in it so it was time for a good cleaning.

    last night before the ball dropped the 20gL got a partial, the calendar got noted that the filters for it will be due sometime in the upcoming week, and the 90g had 1 plant replanted as the darn discus somehow managed to uproot it (crypt lucens).

    water changes and filter maintenance. had to do a really good cleaning in the 55g, the pleco died over night and the other fish had made a mess of his remains. wasn't a pleasent sight to see. the air pump on the 150g started making a buzzing sound (started about 2 weeks ago) and was getting louder. today i decided to tear it apart to see if it just needed cleaned or a repair kit. when i went to uplug it i noticed that the cord was very warm to the touch and so was the pump itself, so when i opened the unit up i could tell that it was beyond repair, it had that electrical burnt smell. good thing we've got a spare air pump.

    nagging the husband and kid to clean the 90g as I've been miserably sick for a month now and have been on so many breathing treatments and medicines that I have to keep a journal to keep everything straight. The 20gL filter needs cleaned too which only takes a few minutes, but I'm more concerned with the 90g for now. Ugh! I so hate being sick gosh darnit!!!

    I don't think I have good luck with something so fancy. We'll see how things go after I get better lights, lol.
    I'm a HUGE fan of moss tanks, especially with the moss growing off drift wood <3 I'm a man who loves his moss =D

    EcoComplete came in, added it to tank, waiting on everyone to calm down and settle back in before I start to more stuff around too much.
    Might add a second filter and work on placement in my head for everything. Seems like a good idea?

    sponge filter, easy..won't suck anyone up..and can simply just "wring" out to clean.

    I never was a moss fan until I got the stuff for the kids 20gL...stapled that bad boy right onto the driftwood and it took off and looks great! I think that was my first, maybe 2nd if you count a moss ball that was tied to fishing string and weighted to a sinker, that I had smashing success without needing to do a darn thing!

    get yourself some driftwood and just staple the stuff to it...toss it in...and wah-lah your shrimp, gups, and endlers will have numerous baby hideouts.

    @Dawn
    Already on that. If you recall, my 10 gallon tanks had moss on drift wood, but I killed it all trying to treat my Stag Algae.
    Moss doesn't like the big tank. Turns into algae =/

    hmm..you'd think it'd like the more room to spread out? But your probably right because it's doing fab. in my 20gL...I just have the eheim outtake gently aimed towards the tip of the driftwood that has the moss stapled to it and the stuff does fine.

    Maybe it's something to moreso do with needing a bit of "light" circulation to keep it growing?

    Or it could be it doesn't get enough light in my tank. The lighting is very poor, but I'm about to fix that in a few weeks.

    well let me know, because now I'm a bit intrigued.
    I know our 20gL only has standard flourescent lighting that's only on for a couple hours a day set to a timer..so no "quality" lighting there..just your standard full canopy hood with built in lighting.

    well i'm not rushing into a decision on what to do with the tanks, so for now I just ordered some of my maintenance stuff that I'm just about out of.

    aquariumguys-> PURA PhosLock Filter Media - 795 g for $35.81 after $7.99 shipping...man how I wish I could have found a free shipping code, but this stuff is even more pricey at the lfs.

    amazon-> 2L Seachem Prime for $45.84 (free shipping..yay).

    I like to buy bulk when I can to try to save a bit more...normally I'd probably order the 4L of Prime since it lasted for ever even when double dosing and not measuring "perfectly"...but theirs always bills to catch up with after the holidays and medicines that cost way too much so for now this will definately hold everything over until I decide what I really want to do.

    And for those wondering why I post prices, it's to help others save money in case they are paying more for the same products.
