picking up a new heater and a digital thermometer while I'm at it for the 2.5g (the heater currently in there isn't doing squat).

Foster&Smith grabbed the 50w marineland Stealth Pro heater for $20.48 shipped using a $5.00 off any order coupon code. Apparently the 7.5w Hydor is either defective cuz I sure can't feel any heat coming from it...or simply too low of a wattage to do anything being winter time and the tank being located on a wall where there are windows within a few feet?
    <a class="postlink" href="http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=21323" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/p ... atid=21323</a>

SuntekStore got the digital thermometer shipped to my door for only $3.74
    <a class="postlink" href="http://www.suntekstore.com/search.html?keywords=10007010" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.suntekstore.com/search.html? ... s=10007010</a>

And my local lfs sells these for almost $20.00!

Just took delivery of 120 pounds of eco complete, my RO/DI unit and 3 extra cartridges for each filter housing, um the via aqua came in and it sure looks purty.

as soon as my background gets here I can start the build. using seaview and need to get the BG on before the tank can even be posisitioned.

My GSA only lasts maybe a day or two. the SAE's and the RNP take care of it.

Last night I started converting my other 55 gallon from a terrarium back into an aquarium. The terrarium hobby was very short lived, and I felt it was kind of a waste of a good 55 gallon tank. Cleaned it all out and just added new substrate. It's a mix of pea pebble and plant substrate that looks like substrate taken from a lake. Even though the plant substrate is supposedly filled with bacteria I don't trust it, so I washed it (I was told that most of the time the bacteria in those bags die anyway). Now I'm just waiting for what remains of the cloudiness to settle to see how it looks. I'm thinking of picking up a bag of red stone plant substrate to mix in with all that (I really like how that stuff looked but it only came in 16lb bags, and that stuff is $20 a bag). Not quite sure yet what I'm going to turn this tank into, but I know it's going to have another army of corydoras, only in this one it's going to only be two types, around 6 sterbai and 6 Panda, and of course a Pleco or two lol. It's actually exciting starting up another tank. I haven't started from scratch in quite a while!

It's sort of funny, starting a tank after over 25 years was like going back to school (especially now with the internet) I was expecting major headaches and long drawn out processes. [banghead] But It went quite smoothly and the tank cycled in less than 3 weeks. I do not envy all the work your doing but do envy your excitement of how to sock a 55 gal, and the thrill of putting it together. Congrates.

I sold my new 60 cube I won last summer at the ACA... It's the first time in many years I've actually sold a tank. Now I can use the money to invest in a new vertical stand for 12, 10 gallon grow out tanks. ;)
