I think I accidentally dosed too much Excel in my tank. It's pretty cloudy and isn't clearing up. Guess I have to do another water change in a bit.

Pushing plants back into the substrate. Something keeps uprooting the new ones I added about a week ago. I think it's the plecos because it happens overnight.

could be, especially if theirs a piece of food near the bottoms of them.
I know mine will unintentionally uproot newly started plants IF theirs an algae tab that lands right there.

could always use small terra cotta pots >>> where the hole is in the bottom make it a bit wider to allow the plant to fit through...basically turn the pot upside and have the plant coming out of the bottom- which will create a shield around the base of the plant, enabling it to form a good rooting without being pushed out of place.

I do that method with some of the swords.
    ------
Ran to the lfs to grab a small bottle of Prime so I can do the tanks and filters before leaving for vacation (according to tracking the petmt. order won't be here till the 13th...so can't wait).

Took out the baby tears I got the other week, they were rotting and not shooting out any roots.

Arrived home to find one of the new Pineapple Swords sitting on the bottom of the tank in a low current area. Not really sure what's wrong with her, she looks perfectly fine. I scooped her up and put her in a breeding trap so I can keep an eye on her.

5 gallon water change on the Swordtail tank. Added carbon to the canister filter because my water is still discolored from the new driftwood.

I wouldn't feel bad, usually once you know it is dropsy it is too late. Just remember dropsy is not a disease in itself it is more of a complication from a disease.

WhiteDevil: Interesting article! Unfortunately, I believe I was too late with the Epsom salts as well... he died within two days of moving him to the quarantine tank? (which was cycled already as I had quarantined some new plants in salt, I performed about 75% water change and added new salt to that water along with some anti-bacterial medication but it had no effect so I went and got a kg of Epsom salt, changed another 60% and added the new salt. I was also keeping the water at a temperature of around 78 degrees.

HBIC: I had a feeling like that, yes, the first day I saw the "cone" effect on him, that since I don't have any antibiotic or anything, he might not make it as I wouldn't treat him in time. It happened once before with a fish I had bought, but when he died, he also had red belly, so they didn't quite have the same diseases, but I imagine the solutions would be the same.

thats the problem, the symptoms dont show till its too late, dropsy like popeye is a symptom of internal issues.
