Yep, that's why it's such a pain to deal with! D:
Not to mention that I'm regularly testing the water, so there was nothing wrong with water quality either. Meaning that I wasn't even suspecting any infections to be involved!

I cleaned my fish tank today. Then I filled new water in to that. 3 of my fishes died yesterday.
I am still finding the reason for that. :(

Just feeding everyone. Added some spirulina tabs for the plecos but the Swordtails and Cory Cats are munching on them too.

Just feeding and figuring out a game plan for how I'm going to move everyone from the 30Long to the 65 gallon tank when it comes in, which hopefully is today so I can pick it up tomorrow (if they're open). If not then I have to wait until Friday morning but then I'll have all day to set it up.

@Anthony....fish in bucket in existing water with the heater tossed in.
then put all the plants/decor in another bucket or bag with....net the substrate and put it all in the new tank and transfer ALL the water you can salvage from the existing tank (can you tell I've done this a few times)?

Then add some water clarifier and let it sit for 24hours and do a siphon.

<--bought a new heater...Petco $40 for a aqueon300W (more than I wanted to spend, but needed it in a hurry and didn't have/feel up to shopping around).

What purpose does transferring water serve?

    are you joking?
(explanation just in case your not)
a)the water's already cycled since it's coming from a established tank and hasn't "sat"
b)it'll be close to the temp the tank was kept at so you won't need to wait as long for it to "heat" up
c)I truly believe there's beneficial bacteria within the water column/substrate/media
d)I've done it this way as far back as I can recall and have tested my water shortly there-after and have seen only positives in doing it this way.

Then again, you can always start over from scratch...add "new" water....restart the cycling process...wait for/add a beneficial bacteria colony...etc etc etc.
But that's just a waste of time and effort imo.

It has always been my opinion that there is so little beneficial bacteria in the water column that when you move water over it is doing little other than putting dirty water in a clean tank. Beneficial bacteria resides within the filter media, on substrate (somewhat) and on any decoration. I guess that is the beauty of this hobby, differing opinions always make for an interesting debate :)

Still under the weather and with the add of the temp med I'm in no shape to drive,
so just placed an order with foster&smith for frozen foods (since I know this has alot to do with the lil ones not making it...their used to the baby decap. brine and will accept others only occassionally, plus with others feeding them for me their not being fed as frequently as I feed them...but at least I have people pitching in with the tanks for me which is more than I can ask for).

On the plus side I ordered enough that I'll get the 1yr subscription for the fish magazine :D

tank was too gross, did a partial on both the 90g & 20g.
Heading to the fish store in a bit to hopefully grab a pack or two of frozen bloodworms and baby decap. brine shrimp to hold me over until the fosters order comes in.

Took out my two actinic bulbs and replaced them with an 18k and a 10k. Now the tank is running 3 18ks and the 10k. I'm trying to get some more plant growth and also some algae for the plecos. As long as the algae doesn't grow on the plants ! LoL
