Monitoring the temps in my 55 gal because the heater didn't seem to be doing a great job. I put another lower watt heater on the other end of the tank and it seems to be helping raise the temp, but I don't want to cook the fish! Just trying to get it right.

80-82 degrees is a safe range for the 55 you got. I always use two heaters just to keep them off longer and to evenly heat the water rather then create thermal zones.

Went to PetSmart because I was bored. They had Safe Start on sale (The one that treats 75 gallons) so I picked that up to try again. My 29 tank is cycling, of course. I dumped the whole thing in the tank after I did a water change and cleaned the canister filter. I picked up 24 packs of Maracyn and Maracyn Two to treat the new fish with because some had some pretty bad fin damage and Melafix isn't helping at all. I'm about to give up on Melafix but that's another story. My Maracyn pack was short ! I pulled them all out because it didn't look like 24 and sure enough it was missing 8. Called PetSmart to tell them and she said to bring it back and I can exchange it. I will do that tomorrow before work.

The cost of being bored... $66 at PetSmart for things I didn't really "need".

don't feel bad, I do the same thing...get bored and buy stuff (mostly tank related) that I don't/didn't really need.
But somewhere down the line it USUALLY come's in handy.

<--hoping to do partials after I grab something to eat (or sucker the kiddo into doing it for me).

Starting to set up the 30 gal I got from CL. Turns out it needed a light strip (the one it came with was broken) and I'll want a different filter system as the one that came with it was hideous ugly and LOUD. Money is tight so I'll be taking it a step at a time. This weekend, just buying substrate and filling with the plants (plastic) that came with it, and filling with water...I'll use the ugly loud filter until next payday.

dependant upon what your putting in it, a cheap sponge filter will do the job.
just turn the air down'ish to keep the vibration of the airpump in check (that or wrap it in a towel-airpump meaning).

For the time being it looks like it will be the guppy-endler fry tank until we can rehome them. Eventually it will be for glass cats. My 12 year old will be taking it on as "his" tank and that's what he's chosen to fill it with.

sponge filter will work like a charm.
I have glass cats in my 90g...their cool!
Make sure to get a nice school of them as their tight swimmers :)
    Mine devour frozen bloodworms.

Think I'll look into some online stocking for the 20L, might turn into a lf bristlenose breeding factory...time will tell!

Picked up a breeding pair of Fossorochromis Rostratus the male is 9" female about 6. Also a breeding pair of Yellow Labs, 7 juvie Fossorochromis Rostratus about 2.5" - 5". So we were bagging all of them up and started after the female and just as i got the net close to her she spit about 50 fry. Well they didn't go into the net. We had to catch them before the other fish ate them (peacocks, Yellow labs etc.). We caught about 15 and put them in a bag and I got all those to. All for the very nice price of $50.00. BAd news comes with that but I will post on the Rant page for that.

Picked up a pair of yellow labs yesterday. Thought the female was holding so i decided to strip her. I got 10 little fry from her. Still have large egg sac' so i put them in a tumbler. I set up 2 tanks and both of them were leakers (used) so i had to move the new fry to a new tank and they all lived.
