PWC for angel babies and puffer.

Puffer tank is ALMOST to goal brackish SG, with slow progression to acclimate puffer (sold as FW, but not) and to grow saline bacterial colonies.

50% water change... moved a few plants... removed some algae by hand... wiped the glass of from the inside... already fed both my tanks 3 times today... when I refilled the water I did not hand feel the temp and now my tank is 92 degrees.... The discus like it and all of them have lightened up in color so I raised my heaters up to hold the temp of 92 degrees..

wow thats warm, id hop in and take a bath with them....lol

30% water change and tried "testing" the water, unfortunatlly i did not see suggestions before getting my little kit, and i got the strips, i pretty much think there completely useless...does anybody have a good suggestion for liquid test kits?all i care about is ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. My fish are all hiding now cuz of the commotion of water change, i can see my cory peeking his head out of his cave, staring at his algae disk, wondering if he should risk it to dart out and get it or stay put....lol i can only imagine what hes thinking

I put my hand in the water before dropping my thermometer in and thought the same thing. :)

The good thing is Discus love hot water... one of the most common mistakes made with them. Also one of the parameters that makes it hard to keep a planted tank and finding tankmates for them...

just finished emptying the 10g>spraying a black background on it, swapping out the sand for eco-complete from the 90g>adding Wendtii, moneywort, ludwigia repens, moss ball, and java moss balloon ball>added good size piece of mounted driftwood from the 90g to it and finished it off with a coconut hut
((waiting for it to clear as I type))

3rd API Master! The API Tests last the longest and require the least drops of all the test kits I have had... the one flaw is the PH is 2 tests if you keep PH outside of the "normal" zone but is more precise if you are in the normal zone (around 7)

Re: What are You Doing That is Tank Related Today?

Well, I just went to Azalea Aquariums and got the recommendation on what to do with all my algae...

I got little packets to add to my filter to remove phosphates...

Before I add those packets I have to break the tank down, clean all the algae I can out... I am going to remove all of my plants and driftwood, clean all of it.

I am about to go to Lowes and pick up a few bags of Pea Gravel as the sand is what they think the problem is. There are anaerobic areas in the sand feeding the algae. So I am going to mix in some pea gravel to try and make it easier for the water to move under the substrate some.

I should be doing this tonight.... if not tonight it will be Tuesday.... fun fun....

Yup... Cleanup underway... so far all plants out and now I am rinsing and adding the pea gravel to a bare tank (it still has the sand in it still though)

    Hours of work ahead!
