alright so i redid the nitrate, right now i'm waiting the 5 minutes. Right now the color was the very light blue/green color that it was before when i did the test after the water change so it was the closest to the teal of the 0 on the card.

so i redid the nitrate test and it was at 0 again, when i looked through the test tube on the white part of the card next to the readings the color of the water was the exact same color of the teal at 0

well i got my shipment. I'm returing the emperor 400 as it fits perfectly on the back of my tank but leaves no room for protein skimmer so i'ts getting returned and getting money back. A little while ago i saw petsmart had a 350 so sometime ago and i'll go and look at the dimensions sometime this week

so my parents realized that i was really unhappy with the tank they bought as it's just super tall and i have found out that a lot of the equipment won't fit on the tank. So today they mentioned to me about taking it back and getting the 47 gallon long tank that they saw at the same time. So i orderd a replacement part for the hood that i broke so once that get's here i'll return it and see if they have the 47 long or 50. I feel really bad though, cause they said they had searched for like 2 weeks to find a tank by my birthday and they thought i'd be really happy with it. But this tall tank would just not of worked for what i really need. It would have been fine for a freshwater setup but not for saltwater with live rock and equipment. I just feel really bad since they did try.

is this T5 light fixute good? <a class="postlink" href="http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3733+13822+18486&pcatid=18486" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... atid=18486</a> Any idea if it has the 24 hour lighting? As i still would want the day light and night light. I plan on having a small amount of soft corals

Never heard of that unit but the Lunar lights are "night lights".

any idea of a pretty good, fairly cheap brand of metal halide lighting? there is no way that i can afford that $730 or whatever for 36 500w lighitng. I don't think i even need 500w for my tank.

i had one posted in the craiglist steals and deals. Not metal halide though (those will cost a pretty penny in both price and running them--electricity)

Ok I'm going to wait on the lighting until I actually get the new tank but other than that I think I'm all set and ready to go equipment wise

That's probably going to be too much light as well. If you're going T5's I'd go for 4 bulbs, not 6.
