No, assuming your water parameters are correct. All lights put off heat, that's why they put fans in the good ones. :D

Yep yep. You're going to have a hard time circulating the water in that tank without one or two.

haha ok, at least those aren't expensive. And i can only afford to spend $400 at a time on the tank, so i'll probably buy the powerheads, filter, and heater first with maybe the protein skimmer. Then buy wait a while and buy the lighting. I'm not in to big of a hurry to set this thing up but i usually get impatient and want to rush things

now that i have found the lighting that i will eventually be getting, my next questions are the protein skimmers.

Any idea if the JEBO 180 II AQUARIUM TANK PROTEIN SKIMMER W/POWERHEAD is better than the SeaClone 100, which is the one that i currently have and i hate it

JEBO is a knock off brand, stay away from that.

Remora Pro is supposed to be a goody.
JEBO=Junk and fire hazard if you read other posts about them!

Heard they were supposed to be a goody also, But I know when I did my research for one that wouldn't take up much space but worked excellent the pro got great reviews. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewitem.aspx?idproduct=AC3121&child=ACRPB&utm_source=mdcsegooglebase&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=ACRPB&utm_content=AquaCRemoraProProteinSkimmerwithMagDrive3Pump&utm_campaign=mdcse&site=google_base" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewitem. ... oogle_base</a>

the aqua pro looks a bit to pricy especially since it looks like i'll be spending $400 just on the lighting, and i told my mom and she flipped and said the tank was less than that, but i know the equipment is expensive and try to get what i can afford.

but the aqua pro does sound good so i may consider it as well, with all the expensive equipment it will just mean it will take me even longer to get this tank going than i originally planned to

Yea, it gets expensive fast...but if you buy low quality then your just going to end up wanting to upgrade it down the road because its more work in the long run.

Better to buy a little at a time>shop around also! ANd don't forget coupon codes if purchasing online!

I meant on equipment, when you buy cheaper or poorer quality just to hold you over...then you end up upgrading it because it doesn't cut it.

another question, that's off this topic right now, but is there a way that i can test drive my puffer in his current tank with some sort of rock that will be similar to the live rock that won't need any special lighting. My main thing is i just want to see if he will actually leave the rock alone and not eat it

that's just a protein skimmer...you would still need a filter imo.
