so i have a question about times for lighting. Would it be a good idea to invest in one and would dr. f and s sell them? I'm really good about turning lights on and off when needed. But i'll be worried when i'm gone for vacation or whatever about the lights not being turned on. I don't think the rock itself would mind but mainly the coral that i would be getting which as of right now, is the Green Star Polyps, although i am looking at other easy beginner corals that might work with a puffer.

A timer is a must. I would just pick one up from Lowes for 5 bucks.

With a puffer I wouldn't recommend stacking the rock that high unless you epoxy it together. The light should be able to reach the bottom though.

    wow, that is overkill. Lol!
IF your going with a good bit of live rock put light diffuser in the base of your tank BEFORE adding substrate/rock...that way it will distribute the weight (if not you can actually crack the base of your tank from the weight).

i don't think my tank would be able to handle that much live rock i would probably only go half way up the side especially since i will have some coral in the tank and both corals that i hope to get are fast growers. Oh and the site that Dawn PM me said that i would need at least 48lbs of rock for the dimensions of my tank

i just kind of like the way how they have it and with having the rock against the glass leaves space in the sand for him to sleep. Also how do you create those cave things with the rock.

alright so i did another water change i did not clean the filter as it did not need it nor did i clean the skimmer as it did not need it as well. The readings are after i did the water change.

    Nitrate: No3- 0
    Temp: 75-82 F
    Ph: 7.8
    Alkalinity: Normal 1.7-2.8
    Ammonia- 0
    Nitrite- 0

So i think my paremeters are pretty much perfect now.

Because nitrates are the end product in the nitrogen cycle. Fish produce ammonia which in the end turns into nirtates which are removed from the water usually by water changes.
