    Sorry if it seems I'm being suborn =/
    I've already looked into the larger tank with dividers. I'd have to custom order one, and that isn't gunna fly with my pocket book!

    no worries, but wondering why you'd need to custom order one? (no Petco nearby?)

    Tank size.
    If I were to get one tank it would need to be a 49(long) x 15(wide) x 10(tall) tank. Unless they make a tank that size already? o.o;

    Can't decide who should I breed with whom.... The 4 girls really aren't too different from each other, and the boys are too different ... Of the 4 males, only two will be used.

    Of the two, one has a black body, the other only half is a blackish.
    One will cross with there sister, the other will cross with a female Tiger female.

    40 Long 48x13x16 / 6 spaces = 8x13x16
    So, if I get some tiny pipes and some screen material I'll be able to divide the tank into 6 parts.
    If I double the screen and place a small bit of java moss in it, I can grow some copapods and scuds in it. That'll give me a source of live food, as well as something growing in the tank and helping the overall health. I'll likely get some pots and grow plants in the fry occupied portions of the tank.

    Dawn, what kinnda screen should I look for. I know it can't be aluminum. Is there another sort? Maybe I can find the material brine shrimp nets are made from?

    the screen is fiberglass....it'll feel like plastic and be black in color.
    You'll find it in the hardware store back with screens (rolls, and spindles that they;ll cut to size for ya).

    I simply wrapped mine over eggcrate (which was cut to the size I needed with needle nose pliers) and then sewed it around the frame using fishing string.

    Ignore the high price here...but you can zoom the pict to see a good picture of the eggcrate I used. http://govex.ngap.com/product.aspx?zpid=2020267

    This is similar to the screen I used...(holes are smaller than the ones in this photo though)

    Fiber glass'll be ok? Cool
    I guess egg crate is an easier solution.... Where do I get it? o.o;

    Yep, Fiberglass will be fine...it'll say something charcoal and list the screen material as fiberglass (feels plasticy to me).

    Eggcrate & the fiberglass screen stuff can be found at Hardware store (lowes, home depot, 84lumber, builders square, etc) ;)

    Breeding Plan
    If I divide the tank up 6 ways, I'll be able to fit 3 breeding pairs at a time.
    After they make there drops, I can move the parents into the empty box next to it.

    As the fry grow, I'll decide if the fry are worth useing. If they are, then I place the fry into the community tank, then allow them to make a second drop. The second drop will be used as the breeding material. This gives me a larger drop to work with.

    In one breeding set I'll work on color, another finage, and the third size.
    A constant reverse crossing of all three lines will be used. Every three generations I'll cross one line with another.

    Wow, ambitious little bugger aren't ya.

    If you follow your plan you have to post photos of the parents and their offspring!
